Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari hanged after torture – the news spread over the world and created a voice against the administration of Iran.

The Iranian government hanged Wrestler Navid Afkari in the case of killing a person during an anti-government protest in the year 2018. The case of execution of Navid Afkari is also special because there was a worldwide voice against it. Despite this, the government of Iran quietly hanged Naveed. Iran’s state TV has informed about this.

He was hanged by the government after bearing immense torture. Two of his brothers were also beaten by the prison guards. According to a reliable source, they denied medical care for their wounds out of compulsion.

Navid Afkari was alleged to have killed a person during an anti-government protest in 2018. US President Donald Trump also appealed to the Iranian government to spare Naveed. According to Iran’s official TV, Navid Afkari was hanged in Adel Abad Prison of the Shiraz area on the orders of Chief Justice Kajem Mousavi of Fars Province.

There was a debate on this issue on social media as well. In which it was said that Afkari and his brothers were targeted for being involved in anti-government protests. Two of Afkari’s brothers are still in jail. Afkari was accused of stabbing an employee of the water supply company to death during a protest.

The Iranian government had also telecasted the confession of the Wrestler. The allegation was that the Iranian government compelled Navid Afkari to give the confession. The assassination of the person happened last week.

As a result of this, the demand for the abolition of the death punishment has started again in Iran. The International Olympic Committee also appealed to the government of Iran not to hang Naveed. The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also criticized the Iranian government’s decision to hang Navid Afkari.

Navid Afkari was arrested on September 17 in the year 2018 and was given a death sentence twice by the two courts. Naveed’s brothers Wahid Afkari and Habib Afkari have been sentenced to 56 years, 6 months and 24 years, 3 months respectively. However, the three brothers denied the allegations against them.

The Executive Director, Centre for Human Rights in Iran, Hadi Ghaemi, told that the judiciary of Iran is eager to execute several people who are involved in anti-government protests. Their activity is to manifest the result of a protest against the government. That is why Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari hanged till death. This is an acute sense of dictatorship by the government of Iran.
